Charity chosen for the Pantomime
The Nike Group has chosen the charity, Sebastian’s Action Trust, for this year’s ice pantomime performance. Performances will take place in mid-December at Bracknell Ice Rink. The Charity will receive proceedings for the Charity performance and collection made on each night of the shows.
Sebastian’s Action Trust supports families of seriously-ill children. They provide emotional, social and practical support for children with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses and their families.
The charity developed from the last wish of one very special nine-year-old boy, Sebastian, just twelve days before he died of cancer in 2003. He wanted to create a private place where lifelong memories could be made, even if that life was to be cruelly cut short. Sebastian’s wish became reality in July 2011, when the Bluebells, their purpose-built facility funded, designed and constructed by the charity opened its doors.
The Bluebells, located in North Waltham, Hampshire, is the UK’s only purpose-built facility offering specialist breaks exclusively to the families of seriously-ill children and where possible, to those who are recently bereaved.
This summer the Trust opened the doors to its new family facility, The Woodlands, in Crowthorne. Over the next five years the Trust will be extending and developing the facility to meet the needs of the many families needing to access vital support which is tailored to address their own unique situation.
